In the small town of Kushugum in the south-east of Ukraine, on a site belonging to the Free Protestant Church, the DIE BRÜCKE ZUM LEBEN (bridge to life) foundation facilitated the construction of a children’s home. This was officially opened in summer 2014. Here twelve orphans will learn what it means to grow up in a family. The foundation builds Children’s Homes and provides the funding necessary for a real childhood, a loving upbringing and a future-oriented education.
The opening ceremony was attended by Waldemar Schröder (Chairman of the foundation DIE BRÜCKE ZUM LEBEN), Mihail Atamansky (Christian Life Centre), Sergiy Knysch (project manager on the construction of a home for orphans in the city of Zaporizhia), the representative of the local authorities and a number of families.
Guests from Germany, Greece and various regions of Ukraine were also present. Waldemar Schröder presented Igor and Nastja Simentschowy with the symbolic key to the house in which they will now live, providing a home for up to twelve children.
The visitors toured the family’s new home with great interest and curiosity. The cosy rooms are furnished for twelve children with the spacious kitchen and the comfortable living room offering lots of space for the family and guests. Bathroom, cellar and wash room boast all the necessities for daily life.
The playground beside the building was also built by the Foundation.
The opening ceremony took place in a cheerful and cosy family atmosphere.
