A widows' meeting has been taking place in Moldova for several years now. This time, women from the area around Chisinau were invited, as well as pastors' wives who had actively worked alongside their husbands in the church and now, after the death of their husband, have to cope with everyday life alone, which is not always easy.
The widows arrived at the parish hall under a bright blue sky and warm temperatures. The motto of the event was “God is near”.
The testimonies of women who have lived through much suffering and grief were valuable and were able to comfort and encourage each other. The event was framed by songs and a sermon with encouragement.
Of course, the physical well-being was also taken care of. Over a festive meal, the women were able to share their experiences in small groups. For many, it was the first opportunity in a long time to be recognized and heard.
The DIE BRÜCKE ZUM LEBEN foundation initiated and funded this project out of love and appreciation for every widow. Thanks to the generous support, packages of basic foodstuffs could be prepared and handed over to the widows at the end of the event. It was a very touching and loving meeting in which the women were able to learn that they are not forgotten.
